I'm hungry for something that will make me curl up in the corner and cry after eating. Create and describe in all of its delicious glory, your own BEST CUPCAKE EVER. What flavor, what icing, how do you decorate it? Do you eat slowly or fast?

My BEST CUPCAKE EVER would be muffin-sized, because I must have a little extra. Next, it would be made of fluffy cake but not like your typical cupcake - oh, no! - it would have a LAYER OF FROSTING, just like a real full-sized cake. The bottom layer would be chocolate and the top layer would be white. The frosting layer would be an intoxicating butter cream cheese frosting, kind of like what was on my (ack) wedding cake. The top frosting cap would be a lot more of the same, and there would be tiny chunks of Lindt chocolate on top.

Ask me anything

Did you ever (or, times being what they are, do you presently) have an imaginary or "pretend" friend? Please to describe.

I wish I had an imaginary friend. As an only child, I was constantly playing alone, but not with a "friend" like that. I just talked to myself and had conversations with myself. Even now, I still do that. Weird? I used to make a joke that talking to myself was the only way I could be sure of intelligent conversation.

Why Are You At The DMV, Again?

I am a hazard to the roadways. I am a common criminal. I can't believe I haven't been locked up. But today I am trying to rectify that.

For the last two years and some-odd days, I've had an invalid driver's license. When you get tickets and you don't pay them or even show up for your court date, they have a tendency to not renew your license. Since the ticket amount was sky-high and the court was a 6-hour drive from my house (which equates to about $300 in gas for my cinder-block-shaped Jeep Wrangler), I didn't go back to court and they wouldn't negotiate over the phone. So, oops.

Anyway, I'm so tired of talking about this to every blessed person, because they just don't understand how a car-loving, racing, off-road driving person like myself could let a license lapse. Yeah, well, it did. Okay? I haven't gotten caught because I am actually a good driver, I just like to go fast. So there. Cops don't typically profile people like me (read: white near-middle-aged blond female in a big 4x4).

I paid off my tickets with my tax refund, but still had to wait 15 days to try to get a license. Since it's been so long, I had to take the driver's test all over again. It was that 15 day waiting period that screwed me. If I'd only had to wait a week, or if I could have taken receipts to show they'd been paid, I could have just renewed it and been on my way. But having to wait pushed me over the 2-year mark by 4 days. The lady at the DMV office looked like she could have cried for me. It was so sweet.

So, in Texas, it's actually a DPS office, not a DMV. So TX DPS requires a written test and then the road test. There is parallel parking involved. When I was 16, there was a 2 or 3 year window where they didn't require a parallel parking component. In fact, I don't even remember having to take a road test because I'd just completed driver's ed and I think that served. I don't know. Lots of drugs and alcohol since then have eroded parts of my brain.

This morning I went to the DPS office and took my written test. I now know why we have so many shitty-ass drivers in this city. You can take the test up to 6 times before you have to pay again. You can retake the test more than once in a day. The test tells you immediately if you got one incorrect and GIVES YOU THE RIGHT ANSWER! So then you just get back in line, and do it again. I watched a guy do it three times this morning. Awesome. And I have to share the road with this guy?? The test was really fucking easy! It was all about signs and nothing really at all about driving skills or best practices. I swear...just because you know what a 'hospital' sign means doesn't mean you should be driving.

Anyway, I have to go back at 2 to take the road test. I'm nervous about the parallel parking aspect because I really don't feel like I've had enough practice. This is TEXAS. We don't parallel park here. And even in those few places downtown in the largest cities, you can still find head-in parking or lots all over the place. In addition, I do have a Jeep...I can make my own parking just about anywhere I want. May not be legal, but I am not bound by the rules of pavement.

That's it. I have been pretty busy, I met a guy, I got my house clean and it's stayed that way because Tom isn't here, and I still haven't heard a word from him. My job still sucks, I am still looking for a new one, and the GRP is still in effect. So there you have it. See ya.
